Fund Iowa Farms Day on the Hill

FUND IOWA FARMS DAY ON THE HILL

April 2nd
8am - 1pm
Capitol Hill

Join the Iowa Food System Coalition for Fund Iowa Farms Day on the Hill as we head to the Capitol to make our voices loud and clear: Iowa must invest in its local food system. With the abrupt loss of federal LFPA and LFS funding, farms, food hubs, and communities across the state are feeling the impact. Now is the time for Iowa to step up by fully funding the Choose Iowa Food Purchasing Program at $3 million to keep fresh, local food flowing to schools, food banks, and families.

This special advocacy day brings together farmers, food leaders, and community members to meet with legislators, share stories, and show the real impact of local food across the state. In addition to funding for the Choose Iowa Purchasing Program, we’ll also be calling for:

  • Boosted support for rural grocery stores, shared-use kitchens, and local processing through the Rural Innovation Grant Program

  • Increased funding for the Choose Iowa Value-Added Grant Program

  • State investment in the Double Up Food Bucks Program to increase healthy food access for Iowans on SNAP

You'll have the chance to connect directly with lawmakers, highlight IFSC’s full slate of 2025 policy priorities, and help build the case for why local food is a smart investment for Iowa’s economy, health, and future. Find additional Advocacy Resources here.

Please register in advance—sharing your zip code helps us ensure voices from every district are represented and heard. We will follow up with detailed logistical information including lunch plans.
